COVID19

コロナウイルスのせいで皆の生活、そして安心感をも変えてしまいました。アメリカンアカデミーも皆の健康守る為に安全対策を取っています。これまでのところアメリカンアカデミーはコロナウイルスとの接触歴もなく、また感染した人もおらず幸いでした。世界そして日本のコロナウイルスで亡くなられた方々に謹んで哀悼の意を表するとともに、ご遺族に対し心よりお悔やみ申し上げます。私たちは今の生活がどれほど幸せなのかを理解し、この気持ちを継続できるよう努力していきたいと思っております。

We recognize that COIVD19 has uprooted everyone’s sense of security and changed everyone’s daily practices. American Academy has also adapted to the new patterns that we all must take to ensure that everyone can stay as healthy as possible. So far, American Academy has been fortunate to not experience the coronavirus nor to know anybody who has had it.  Our hearts and sympathies go out to the entire international global community and specifically those in the United States and Japan. We know how incredibly fortunate we are and are taking as many reasonable steps as possible to continue our good fortune. 

まず初めに、理美とジェラルドは仕事だけでなく、私生活においても感染対策をしっかりと取っています。私たちはまだ比較的若く、健康ではありますが、仕事などでリスクの高い方と接触する事があります。私たちの1番の心配は無症状である私たちがその方々に感染させてしまうことです。そのため政府の忠告を守ります。出来るだけ３密（密閉、密集、密接）を避けます。

First, Rimi and I are taking personal steps, not just with our jobs, but in our personal lives to avoid as many risky situations as possible.  While we are both relatively young and healthy, we come into direct contact with those at risk as others who are also healthy but come into contact with those at risk.  Our primary concern with the virus is less our getting sick, but the possibility that we may unwittingly pass it on to someone at risk. As a result, we are following government regulations and avoiding the three C’s (Closed spaces, Crowded spaces, and Close-contact settings) as much as possible.  

コロナウイルスが流行する前からアメリカンアカデミーは３密のうち2つをもうすでに守っていました。（蜜閉、蜜集）。ですが、小さい子どもに教えるため密接を避けられません。この密接を少しでも防ぐために私たちはフェースシールドを使用しています。残念ながら他の言語を学ぶ時は唇と顔を見なければなりません。その結果、イベントなどではフェイスシールドとマウスシールドを使うことにしました。これで防ぎながら子どもが私たちの顔を見ることができます。

We are lucky that, as our model for the school, we already practiced two of the three C’s, namely closed and crowded spaces. However, as we teach young children, it is impossible to avoid close contact with the students.  In order to mitigate this challenge Rimi and I consistently wear face coverings while teaching. Unfortunately, part of learning a new language involves seeing how the mouth and face move while speaking. As a result, Rimi and I both wear face shields and mouth shields while students are inside our home. This allows us to prevent any potential germs from spreading while also allowing students to see our faces.  

さらに、まず家に入ってすぐに子供達が手を洗うように習慣付けています。感染を防ぐために食べる前と食べた後に手を洗います。テーブルや玩具もイベントごとにアルコールで丁寧に拭いています。コロナウイルスが流行してから玄関にセンサーでアルコールが出る機械も用意しています。

Additionally, we have continued the practice of students washing their hands when they first come through our doors. They also wash their hands before and after they eat to help stop any potential virus to spread. We continue to wipe down tables before being used and periodically sanitize toys with alcohol. Since corona started, we added a motion sensor-activated alcohol machine at the entrance for parents who wish to use it, even if they are just dropping off their child.  

最後に、調理中にほとんどの食品が沸騰するため、感染が広がる可能性はわずかですが、各イベントの食事を準備するときは、感染のリスクをさらに減らすために、必ずフェイ スカバーを着用しています。

All of these modifications parents and students can witness. One last note, even though the possibility of spread is slight as most of the food is boiled as I cook it, as I prepare food for each of the events, I make sure to wear a face-covering to further reduce the risk of infecting the American Academy family. 

子供達の安全はとても大事です。安全の為に責任を持ってきちんと選択します。冬になる前に二人ともインフルエンザのワクチンを打ちました。いつも家族と頻繁に連絡をとり、体調の確認をします。絶対子供の健康を危険に晒しません。コロナウイルスで亡くなられた方に謹んで哀悼の意を表するとともに、ご遺族に対し心よりお悔やみ申し上げます。コロナウイルスが消えるまで皆で一緒に頑張りましょう。

Rimi and I take the safety of our students very seriously and make the most responsible decisions that we can to ensure their safety. We have each already received our flu vaccinations as we head into cold and flu season. We are in constant communication with the parents and will notify them of any health concerns on our end.  We will not knowingly jeopardize the health of our students. Again, we wish all those suffering from hardships and loss due to the virus all of our love and support and we will go out of our way to ease the situation until this phase passes.
